I always look forward to summer, when the children are off school and you can plan days out and holidays. But it's always an expensive time for us because we have so many children. Even a short UK break can be over £1000 for all of us. So I'm definitely entering two amazing competitions today - the first is one of five £5,000 bundles of cash from the Daily Mail. I like the fact that we have five times as many chances of winning than a normal competition. And the other one is a cooking break for two in Italy.  OK, I know that's not for the whole family but Dave and I could justify it by telling the children we will be learning to cook beautiful things for them. In the garden this week I've noticed that slugs and snails have munched an entire flower bed so a quick Google search told me to sprinkle lots of used coffee grounds around the plants. Well, it had no effect whatsoever - except the plants look slightly jittery, having absorbed about two thousand double espressos.  Luckily the Sun has a prize to fix this - there are three chances to win a pest protection bundle for your garden which will deter them in a kindly organic way.
